2012 and my half marathon challenge.

My name is Claire, I'm 21 years old and 2012 looks set to be the biggest, most exciting and the most challenging year of my life so far... This is where I plan to document all my achievements and failures of the next 12 months... Enjoy, I have a feeling its going to be something of a roller-coaster.

First Blog post ever! Bear with me :)

So...its now 2012;  The year of the London Olympics, the year of the Queens Jubilee, as well as the year I attempt to:
1) Learn French
2) Save some money
3) Get onto a PGCE course
4) Move out of  home to live with my boyfriend
5) Volunteer at the Olympics
Oh .. and last but definitely not least,I will also attempt to run a half marathon!
This is where I shall document all my inevitable achievements and failures for the world to see...Here goes =).

In the first 9 days of this year I have already started my training for the Half Marathon, which of course began with an essential new wardrobe of bright pink Adidas running gear

As well as the beautiful, but potentially not so flattering, new outfit I have started actually running.

Saturday January 7th 2012: I attempted my first training session with the other half, who has chosen to undertake this challenge with me. We chose a route on the beach at Cleethorpes and ran for 36 mins! When I say 'ran', I actually mean 'walked with intermediate bursts of jogging'. I managed to cover 2.7 miles but the reality of what I am undertaken has begun to sink in ever so slowly. 13 miles is a long way, I have 5 months until the big day!Is this possible?

Monday January 9Th 2012: Today I managed 40 mins and 3.5 miles on the treadmill at the gym. I'm pleased to say the majority of the time was spent actually jogging as opposed to walking. Quite proud of today's achievement, although walking up and down the stairs is becoming somewhat of a challenge! Serious leg ache! Also, today is officially 200 days until the beginning of the Olympic games and the beginning of my volunteering in London as a games Maker. Starting to get excited =)

On that note ... ill leave it there for now.
